45 cm, high-quality acrylic paints on plywood panel
Time for Lightness captures the interplay of time and lightness – a mandala that wasn't originally meant to be a clock. The delicate patterns in pure white on a deep black background create a harmonious balance that radiates both clarity and elegance. The delicate brush strokes run across the surface like feather-light traces, symbolising the lightness of being and the fleeting moments of time.
The decision to turn it into a clock came spontaneously – an inspired impulse that completed the work. A precise hole in the centre, the bright red hands contrasting with the monochrome colour palette – and suddenly a pure work of art became an elegant timepiece that adds a touch of style to any room:
-
White stands for clarity, purity and lightness. It runs through the mandala like delicate feathers unfolding gracefully on the black background.
-
Black symbolises depth and infinity. It allows the delicate patterns to stand out in striking contrast and gives the mandala a timeless elegance.
-
Red (hands) is the striking accent – a touch of energy that interrupts the calm flow of the patterns and draws attention to the passing of time.
Time for Lightness reminds us that time does not have to be heavy. Lightness can be found in every moment – sometimes all it takes is a glance at the second hand as it circles feather-light.
